About Lab.
Welcome to the Arima Group!
This laboratory, established in April 2023 within the Department of Precision Engineering at the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, is relatively new. Our primary objective is to contribute to the future of manufacturing, particularly in the realm of next-generation green devices, through deeply studying the science of practical semiconductor surfaces.
To achieve manufacturing technology with the highest precision, it is imperative to comprehend interactions at the interfaces between solids and liquids, as well as between solids and gases (such as plasma), at the atomic and molecular levels, and to control them scientifically. Within our laboratory, we conduct research on ultra-precise surface measurements, utilizing microscopes capable of visualizing atomic arrangements and surface-sensitive spectroscopic analysis methods sensitive to several atomic layers on the surface. Additionally, we are engaged in creating high-performance semiconductor nanomaterials using innovative etching phenomena and developing new surface processes. Through these pursuits, we aim to contribute to the significant advancement of production technology and the realization of a clean and comfortable energy-consuming society by integrating both experiments and high-precision simulations based on quantum mechanics.
Our website has undergone a complete redesign. All of our staff members are dedicated to establishing a firm footing in this field by harnessing the youthful energy of our students and the perspectives of international students from diverse backgrounds, and fostering collaborative research endeavors between industry, government, and academia. We sincerely appreciate your support and encouragement.
